Eric Walsh (BA Honours [Political Science], McGill University, 1994) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1995. During his time at headquarters he has served as the Director General for North America (2018-2021), Director, North Asia (2007-2010), Coordinator, Middle East and North Africa (2003-2005) among various other positions, including work to negotiate the Ottawa Treaty banning antipersonnel mines in 1996-97. Positions overseas included Ankara, Turkey (1998-2001), Bucharest, Romania (2001-2003), Counsellor (Disarmament) in Geneva, Switzerland (2005-2007), Minister and Deputy Head of Mission in Berlin, Germany (2010-2015) and Ambassador in Seoul, Republic of Korea (2015-2018).

Dr. Viacheslav Adamchuk

Dr. Adamchuk obtained a mechanical engineering degree from the National Agricultural University of Ukraine (currently National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine), located in his hometown. Later, he received both MS and PhD degrees in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University (USA). In 2000, Dr. Adamchuk began his academic career as a faculty member in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA). Ten years later, he assumed his current position in the Department of Bioresource Engineering at McGill University (Canada), while retaining his adjunct status at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Currently, he serves as the Chair of the Bioresource Engineering Department. In addition, he is Canada’s representative to the International Society of Precision Agriculture.

Dr. Shamen Vidanage

Dr. Shamen Vidanage obtained BSc and MSc degrees in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya. He also received Masters in Economic and PhD from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He is a multi skilled professional with over 30 years of experience including 19 years at IUCN and over 13 years work experience in the government agencies and academia.
